CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS

Everyone has the right to and should expect to learn

Each individual is worthy of respect

Classroom orderliness is necessary for an effective classroom

Hard work is necessary for learning

CLASSROOM RULES

  • Be Prepared

  • Be Respectful

  • Be Responsible

  • Be Considerate

  • Keep Hand, Feet, and Negative Comments to Yourself

  • Be Open Minded

  • Bring all needed materials to class everyday( science binder, pen or pencil, textbook)

  • Raise your hand to receive permission to speak

SCIENCE BINDERS

  • Students are required to bring a 3-ring science binder to class EVERYDAY

  • Binders must be separated with tabs labeled as follows

    1. class notes/handouts

    2. vocabulary

    3. homework

    4. test/quizzes

    5. journal/bell work

  • Binder will be randomly reviewed throughout the grading period for neatness and organization, so please bring them to class everyday

GRADING

There will be chapter test as well as 10 question quizzes throughout the chapter. These quizzes are class work grades and help to prepare for the chapter test. Throughout the year we will also engage in many hands on activities to reinforce what is being taught in class.

80% test and projects

20% class work and homework

There will be two make-up days per 9 week grading period (students may make arrangements to come in and make up missed test/quizzes at other times)

  • Just before progress reports

  • Just before the end of the 9 weeks

We will have afterschool science explorations two days a week. Students will be involved in various science labs beyond what we do in class. Science Explorations is a great opportunity for those who enjoy science to really get involved and explore many topics in science. Students that need extra help in science should also attend extra help will be available during this time. More information on the afterschool program will be sent home soon.

My planning period is 9:44-10:40 am
